POWERMAX contactor is an electrically controlled switch used for switching high-current loads. A contactor is similar to a relay but typically designed to handle currents in excess of those that a relay can handle. Contactors are used to control electric motors, heating elements, and other high-current loads.
Contactors are controlled by a low-power signal circuit. When the control circuit is energized, the contactor closes its contacts, allowing a high-current load to flow. When the control circuit is de-energized, the contactor opens its contacts, interrupting the flow of current to the load.
- Current Rating: Powermax contactors come in various current ratings
- Voltage: They can handle AC voltages commonly used in residential and commercial applications (220-250V AC and 480 VAC).
- Mounting: Many Powermax contactors are designed for DIN rail mounting, a standardized track used in electrical distribution boards.
- Coil Voltage: The coil is an electromagnet that controls the contactor’s on/off state. Powermax contactors come with coils designed for various control voltages.
- Applications: Powermax contactors can be used in various applications that require control of high-current loads, such as heaters, motors, transformers, and solenoids.
